I feel like the signing of a guy like Letestu would, more or less, be a give up move in the development of Scott Laughton as a center. At least here in Philly.
Laughton has 300 pro games under his belt (~200 in the NHL), was a first round pick, and has a pretty good pedigree from junior hockey.
If he isn't ready to play 3C at this point, I don't know what to say.
I say give Laughton that gig and he either learns it and is/becomes proficient or he washes out and then, maybe even give an older prospect like Vecchione a shot at it. |

Can't wait to see the reaction on here when Hak sits either Hagg or Sanheim for Folin after a rough game and repeatedly allows Gudas way more leeway with his bonehead plays. |

Yeah, I can't see him being worth more than say a 4th at the very best. He's supposed to be a scoring forward but he doesn't generate much offense.
The thought of him trying to play center at the NHL level makes me shudder. |

Any chance Hexy kicking the tires on Justin Faulk? Young and instantly becomes the Flyers second best defender. Also RH. |

They tried to give it to him last year we saw how that turned out. Unless he’s suddenly able to develop a vision for the ice he’ll slot in on the 4th line |

As long as Hakstol doesn't play Folin as much as he played Manning, it won't much matter. |

This is the worst case scenario, actually.
Gudas actually has a decent track record of being able to handle the puck. I think last year was more of an aberration.
What you don't want is for Hakstol to suddenly start playing Folin at the expense of a guy like Sanheim (and, to a lesser extent, Hagg).
With that said, I can't help but feel that Hakstol, in year 4, won't do that. |

Yeah, but this year, the coach won't have his Val Filppula security blanket to fall back on. |

I would hope he wouldn't given that he's less talented and hagg sanheim will both hopefully improve on their rookie years. But let's be honest someone at some point will get injured and folin will play |

I wouldn't rule out Aube-Kubel winning that 4th line RW spot. He was an excellent ES player for the Phantoms last year. As long as he can avoid taking dumb penalties, he's a better option, IMO, than Weal, Weise or Leier.
At center, may as well pencil in Laughton at 3C and Lehtera at 4C and see what happens. If Frost has a dominant camp, maybe he wins the 3C spot. If not, both Vecchione and Vorobyev will have a shot to take one or even perhaps both of those spots if not in October, than later in the season. Rubtsov could also be a dark horse late season bottom 6 center option if he has a strong first half of the season with LHV.
Re the D, barring Myers having a monster camp, I think it's pretty much set:
Provy-Ghost
Sanheim-AMac
Hagg-Gudas or Folin
Myers, if he can stay healthy has a very good shot at winning a spot at some point during the season and Morin could be a factor by late in the season as well.

I thought Read did a good job helping the PK upon his call up to the team, Wouldnt mind seeing him back as an option on a (much) cheaper contract, If nothing more he's been a really good, honest and hard working player who deserves more than to be considered washed up already - He'll never have the speed he did as a rookie but still a smart player with the puck. |

I think Pageau from Ottawa would be a solid fit for the 3rd line C but Im also okay with finally giving Laughton his shot for the role he was drafted for. |

The big question is will the organization allow guys like AK a legit shot to win a job over said players? I am not so sure they will; I hope they do.
The Vecchione love is getting a a bit much. He will not even be a factor imo for 3rd line center hell even 4th. Don’t think the flyers feel he will be in the mix either.
Also don’t think Morin will play this year as Just a sneaky feeling they hold him out. |

All signs point to them developing vecchione as a scoring center. I cant see him being recalled this year but that's because I believe they see his future as a top 9 role or bust. Vorobyov is a more likely 4c. I think NAK has as much a shot as weise leier etc to make the nhl |

I haven't seen the terms but even if its a "one way deal" all that means is he is paid the NHL salary in the NHL or AHL |

I didnt realise he was no longer waives exempt. At the very least they should be hanging onto Stolarz in case Lyon is claimed on his way to the phantoms. |
